No Google allowed.
“And at the count of 3 I pull back the duvee, make my way to the refrigerator. One dry potata inside, no lie…”
MSN Virtual Earth is live
Jul 31st
http://virtualearth.msn.com/
It’s not as advanced as Google Earth yet, however it does run from a web browser. Which is cool. The aerial views are restricted to the USA, a few more steps behind Google, but I’m sure they’ll get there. I’m looking forward to their “bird’s eye” feature, which lets you look at maps from a 45 degree angle, instead of straight down.

from one Lord Vader.
Due to the Darth Vader blog having closed some time ago, I’m removing it from my blogroll. However, I wanted to make special mention of it. The last post was a little bit of brilliant.
(Come on, read it, it got 851 comments!)

Watch out
Jul 27th
Microsoft just went live with their new Windows validation tool.
Called Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)
“The Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool enables you to verify that your copy of Microsoft Windows is genuine. The tool validates your Windows installation by checking Windows Product Identification and Product Activation status. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.”
So, if you’re using a pirated copy of Windows, watch out.

Of the brief variety
Damien had his surgery today. He’s now got a plate inside his jawbone and bear-trap-like braces on his teeth. Thankfully he didn’t require the wiring-shut-of-the-mouth technique, but he’s still in a crappy situation. Further prayers are desired :)
Maija and I have found an apartment that we want, and when we went to hand in the papers today we got offered an even bigger one for the same price. So, that’s exciting. We’ve been given a really great deal for the first+last month rent, so that’s also an answer to prayer. We’ve still been receiving gifts of money from More >

..pray for my brother Damien, that’d be great.
He messed up a tooth and fractured his jaw playing rugby this morning. He’s currently in Sunnybrook hospital awaiting surgery. He’s doing pretty good, but he’s in considerable pain and is bored out of his mind.
I took the Xbox with me this evening to give him something to do, but the sly hospital have the wiring set up backwards. The TV connection which I pulled out of the wall requires a female connector, so tomorow I’ll bring in a gender bender and make it work. No hospital shall defy me!
His surgery is due More >

Summer Camp…
You’ll probably eat more food than you do at home, but you’ll get slimmer. You may go to bed earlier than at home, and you might even sleep later, but you’ll definetly be more tired. You’ll probably make lots of friends at camp, but you’ll be eager to be alone once it’s done. You might shower more often at camp than at home, but that’s because you’ll be getting much dirtier each day.At night you can look up and see the stars, but you’ll get bitten by bugs. There’s no pollution, but you might be allergic to the trees.

Tomorow morning sees us driving up to Huntsville for my friends Eric and Noelle’s wedding.
Following that we head to South River for Kids Camp.

Not the Soviet missile base, the artist.
Listen to anything by him. It’s quite cool. I’d call it progressive alternative synth rock.

Recent acquisitions, thanks to Beatport:
Kyau vs. Albert – Made of Sun (Original mix)Ridgewalkers ft. El – Find (Andy Moor remix)The Thrillseekers – Synaesthesia 2004 (Ferry Corsten remix)
All are abbasolutely amazing acoustic arrangements. I still can’t believe I only paid $4.
In the words of Kyau vs. Albert:
You are made of sun…Take me to life…
Start.com
Jul 4th
I came across Start.com today. It’s a not-yet-released service MSN is working on, which will house all your feeds (XML, Atom etc, from blogs and the like) in one convenient location. The idea is that you will set Start.com to be your homepage, and thus whenever you open your browser you can see right away what new things there are to read.
It’s certainly not the first in this market, but I like the way it’s laid out. Go here to get it working for yourself.
