About bloody time
0My turntables arrived today! It took way too long, and I was getting annoyed, but at least. I have turntables. Hooray. For information’s sake I already had a mixer (Numark as well) that I bought a month or so back. Tomorrow I’m gonna try and pop into Long & McQuade to buy some needles (cartridges… whatever…). Exciting!
Also, I finally saw Kill Bill Vol 1 tonight. Yes… Vol 1. I quite liked it and shall make a point of seeing Vol 2, hopefully in theatres. Tarantino’s so hilarious. Nothing beats Pulp Fiction though. That’s on the top 10 list for sure.
I knew it!
0Those of you who use Hotmail in Canada may have already read this, but I found it rather interesting.
Link found between cocaine and chocolate
I’m fairly sure that I’m addicted to pizza and Dr Pepper. Especially when I have the two of them together. Like tonight. And I’m definitely sure that Rochelle was once addicted to Dr Pepper… from what she’s told me. Seriously… she has Dr Pepper lip balm. Amazing!
In other news, Hadley was released from hospital today! Incredible really… quite fast. He woke up and said, “Enough. I’m going home.” So he did just that. He’s still in a lot of pain, and may require surgery, but that wouldn’t be for a little while. Keep him and the family in prayer, especially for the return of his hearing in the busted ear, and full restoration of his vision, and the rather painful medical bills.
Just because.
0Just because I’m bored, and in a poking-fun-at-Jeremy mood, I’ma poke some fun at Jeremy.
April
Mean Girls: I don’t know about unrude… It could be funny, yes. But it could be incredibly stupid. I’m leaning a little more towards fun, but when it comes down to it, girls are weird man.
May
The Day After Tomorrow: Could very easily go either way. I think it might be fun. Problem is, the trailer tells you absolutely nothing concerning the film’s plot. However, this will surely be better than Sky Captain….
Shrek 2: I’ve seen the first one too many times. But this should be good. I hope so. We’ll see.
Van Helsing: It’s gonna be dumb. Trust me. But then again, our tastes in movies go all over the place J… remember Chocolat? I liked Chocolat…
June
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: Never read any of the books, never seen any of the movies. I’ve always been meaning to see the films, just so I can make judgments… but I haven’t. Clearly it’s not THAT important to me.
The Stepford Wives: Lol…what? What’s this even about? But it’s got some pretty good actors in it. Might be good. Nicole Kidman is always solid… go and rent Moulin Rouge. Best movie ever. (I lie…)
July
The Bourne Supremacy: Should kick ass. I hope so.
i, Robot: It’s gonna suck. I really don’t want it to suck, cause it could be awesome, but I really think it’s gonna suck. If someone was able to make Foundation, as you say, that would be amazing. But seriously, seriously requiring a talented director.
Sleepover: No clue, will probably be terrible. Just because.
Movies I’m (Jeremy’s) NOT Looking Forward To (That I Thought I’d Like)?
Envy: This will be funny. Stupid, but funny. Ben Stiller and Jack Black are funny, funny people. Trust me.
Garfield: For this movie, I will quote Jeremy. He sums it all up :
“Nothing bothers me more than people cashing in without putting in the effort. Scooby-Do comes to mind. This is just riding the same (small) wave. Sorry, but I refused to see either Scooby movie purely because I knew (and was right) that they’d be awful. I refuse to pay for something which will only encourage more crappy movies and animation. Give me quality or give me death to this genre!”
I say give me death. I have little faith that anyone will ever do it right, again.
Movies Jeremy is Missing:
Alien vs Predator – Hahaha… come on. It’s gonna be so much fun!
Dodgeball – Ben Stiller with a sleazy moustache… again. And Vince Vaughn. It will be funny, I have little doubt.
Spiderman 2 – Will suck. I strongly disliked Spiderman last summer. This looks to be along the same lines. What I am looking forward to is Batman, with Christian Bale I believe. Maybe they’ll get Batman right this time.
Ottawa
0In the Shadow of Death, in Ottawa, was a huge success. We performed to pretty much packed theatres in Monday. In the afternoon we performed for high school students, and then in the evening for everyone else – including nigh 60 dignitaries, including the Israeli Ambassador to Canada, and the Speaker of the House. Pretty cool eh?
Monday was a pretty exhausting day, but it went really well. The crowds were very receptive to the play, and we could tell that God had really knit everything together and done a powerful work. We have an opera singer in the cast who comes forward at the end of the production and sing Hatikva, the Israeli national anthem (in Hebrew). In the evening performance, the whole audience stood to their feet, and many people sang with her! It was really really cool.
Also, one woman was there from Montreal, who had traveled to Ottawa just to see the production, and she very much wants to have it performed in Montreal. That’s pretty exciting, seeing as that’s the same way we ended up performing in Ottawa. So Montreal may be coming up in a little while, we’ll have to wait and see.
We did a little sightseeing on Tuesday morning. There’s not much to see in Ottawa, once you’ve seen the parliament buildings, and the river. We drove across the bridge into Hull, thus putting ourselves in Quebec. First time in Quebec. It was fairly nice, looked pretty much the same as Ontario, except for the lack of English.
Then we drove home. And I went to bed. Cause I was and am, tired and sick.
Back in Black
0Just got in from Ottawa, and good news awaits me!
Hadley’s situation has gotten less bad. He has slowly begun mending, and the CT scans have shown that he’s not getting any worse. Here’s the exact account of what happened to the poor lad:
“Friday afternoon Hadley came off his skateboard and fell straight back unable to catch himself, and hit his head on the concrete (or stair, or brick wall, we aren’t exactly certain). Anyhow, he fractured his skull pretty bad. He has no external cuts (not counting some minor grazes to his arms), so all the blood that was lost from his head burst through his ear… and so damaged that. He has a swollen brain, internal bleeding around his brain, and a lot of bruising there also. He ruptured the sack at the base of the head which holds spinal fluid, so that also came out his ear.
There was so much blood at the accident scene, they had to get a fire truck to hose it down!”
So you understand the direness of the situation. But the good news is he is now breathing on his own (he wasn’t before) and has not lost any of his memory up till the accident. Due to the drugs he’s on now, they aren’t really able to check his short term memory. Specific issues to keep in prayer are:
(a.) That his ear will heal because he is currently not able to hear out of it.
(b.) That his eyesight will improve, as he currently can only see clearly in certain directions.
(c.) He’s in a lot of pain, so pray that God supernaturally relieves that.
(d.) Emotionally he’s not doing so well. He’s quite confused as to why exactly he’s in the hospital, as well as just the emotional damage of hospitals in general, so pray that God brings him comfort and safety.
(e.) Surgery is still looking quite likely.
And pray for the family as well. They’re doing ok, but how good can you really do… you know?! But thank the Lord for the good news we’re had so far.
I’ll talk more about Ottawa tomorrow. Right now I’m sick.
Sick boy, new toy, play joy.
0I have no new news on Hadley’s situation, so keep him and his family in prayer. I really feel for them, as Rochelle was really kind and helpful to me when my Dad had his heart attack just before Christmas.
In slightly better news, I went and bought my XBox today. Due to having spending restrictions on my bank account I was only able to buy Halo, and no other games yet. But that’s ok. I have to play around with some network stuff in my house before I’ll get XBox Live. Right now I’ve got Rogers Cable running into the family PC, and then a long cable runs from a second network card (Internet Connection Sharing) to a switch at the other end of the house, where a couple of other PCs plug into. So I’ve got to re-wire some stuff. Also, I was given a router the other day, but it’s an old model, one of the earliest 10/100 routers and it’s really buggy, so I’m trying to figure that out as well. As soon as I get all linxed up though, XBox Live baby.
In theatrical news, we leave tomorrow morning for Ottawa. I’m almost excited. I’ll be excited when I see the theatre. Pray for us there, that everything knits together. But pray for Hadley more. Due to being in Ottawa, I probably won’t post again until Wednesday. Enjoy the peace and quiet while you can.
Prayertime
0Hey all… quick and urgent prayer request. My good friend Rochelle’s brother Hadley just got into a nasty skate-boarding accident and is in hospital with quite serious injuries. The doctors are saying things could go bad. He has a cracked skull and bruised and swollen brain.
Please pray for his immediate healing, and subsequent recovery, and for the emotions of the family. This is an awesome family, close friends of mine. Please lift them up in prayer.
Tick-tock
0So the clock is ticking for our performance of “In the Shadow of Death.” We had our first of two dress rehearsals tonight, (just got home, it’s midnight). I’m so freakin exhausted. I’m excited about performing, but I’m really deeply tired.
Please pray that things go well for us in Ottawa. We all leave this Sunday morning and then perform twice on Monday.
I must now go to bed. I feel like a zombie.
