Desk 2, Jonathan 1

0

So I got back to work today on that stupid desk I mentioned yesterday. The boss’ daughter was sick, so he left early and will be away for Friday and Monday as well. I told him not to worry about anything, have a good weekend, etc. Within 1 hour I had broken his mallet.

He doesn’t know yet. The chances of him finding and reading this blog are equal to the chances of Star Wars Episode 3 being really really good… so I’m not worried. But yeah… stupid desk… broke the mallet. So I spent the next 30 minutes removing the remains of the handle from the mallet head – praying that I wouldn’t brake anything else.

But here you me, that desk is going down. If anyone has a chainsaw I could borrow, I would gladly put it to good use. I could use a skillsaw, but a chainsaw would be more satisfying. Maybe I can find an old RPG launcher somewhere – I think a trip to Brampton is in order.

Trouble with the Uber-Spiritual, and a Desk

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I have a hard time talking to people much more spiritual than myself. I really try hard, but I’ll just sort of drift away while they’re talking to me about this and that and the other. Mostly about these amazing hard-core preachers, who to be honest I don’t care about too much. Which is kinda bad I suppose, but it’s not my reality.

Brief aside: I love the bit in The Passion of the Christ, where Pilate is talking to his wife about “his truth.” It’s very human, very real.

Tonight was cell – social cell. Social cell takes place once a month, so I was playing some music (Jimmi Hendrix) and one of the cell members was very upset and immediately changed it. He had been so heavily into the music scene and other darker things before he was saved, that he couldn’t stand to listen to it at all. I was a little put off, cause it’s Hendrix… but no big deal. But then he talked a lot about prayer and revival, which I’m all for, but how he used to pray all night, till 6am some nights.

So I question myself… Should I be more spiritual? Or am I doing just fine and this guy is too intense? Or is that just who this guy is. Many of the “uber-spiritual” people I’ve come across lose their intensity within a few years. So then I have to ask; Should I be sad that they’ve lost their zeal? Or should I be glad that they’ve found a happy in between place? Or should I not worry about it really and just let them be who they want to be?

The last option is clearly the best sounding one, but it’s not always that easy to hold on to. And so the battle continues… Don’t judge, Don’t judge.

So cell is fun. You just have to turn the music down and play Halo instead. No one objects to Halo.

Oh, yes… the desk. I was demolishing a desk today and I made the foolish mistake of hitting a drawer with the palm of my hand. I didn’t quite see the metal handle, until the corner caught me in the ball of my palm. Made a nice gouge and a good bruise. Stupid desk. I bandaged my hand, wisely put one work gloves, and then smashed the crap out of the desk with a sledge-hammer. Don’t mess with me again, unwanted Resource Centre desk.

Up-coming Films

Alright, here’s my take on a few upcoming/new movies.

Hellboy – I’m excited. Hellboy is a great story… but I’m worried about the secondary characters – they look a little cheesy. We’ll see, could be a lot of fun though. I’m especially impressed by the makeup on Hellboy himself, you’ll understand if you’ve read the comic.

The Ladykillers – Haven’t seen this one yet, but it looks like fun. Tim Hanks is excellent pretty much all the time, so I’m looking forward to going to this one as soon as I can.

Dawn of the Dead – Not sure about this one. I have not yet seen the original, but I loved Night of the Living Dead. Good zombie movies are hard to find lately. You’ve got to go back in time to Dead Alive to see some real zombie action.

Secret Window – Johnny Depp is very cool, so I want to see this one. He should have one Best Actor for Pirates. Either him or Bill Murray. Stupid Sean Penn… get your emotional acting out of here.

I-Robot – Hmmm… I had initially been looking forward to this one. The Asimov book is excellent, but I’m a little put off by the trailer. I don’t think Will Smith is the right character for the detective, he doesn’t have the right feel. And I think the robots look like trash… ahh well. Read the book.

That’s it for now. Ask me about a movie, I’ll tell you what I think. I think lots of things, hehe. Current favourite movie = Big Fish. See it.

Retraction.

Sudden thought while writing “retraction”: Does is stand for retro-action?

Anyway, I retract the statement made at 1:31 PM about being satisfied with the look of things (referred to as “this business”). Now – at whatever time it’s going to say – I am satisfied. For the moment.

So this blog went life last night at around midnight. I didn’t tell anyone about it (see earlier post). So today at work I get a phone call. Naturally I answer it politely, with a, “Maintenance, Jonathan speaking” and who is on the other end but Jeremy Wright himself. He greats me with a friendly, “Nice blog.”

There are no secrets anymore. Hehe, but it was good to chat talk to you Jer…albeit briefly.

In other news, my turntables should be arriving soon. I’m quite excited about that.

Hmm…what else am I excited about?

Getting an Xbox soon time, Fresh Wind, Halo 2, Superman Batman #7, Supreme Power #9, staring in a film this summer, buying a guitar, learning to play that guitar, having people read this blog – I guess

Hahaha… Upon spell checking this post I noticed that the word “blog” is not in the Blogger.com dictionary. Odd. Neither is the word “Batman”.

Finally! As you can see (hopefully), I figured out how to change the links.

Good old HTML. I once tried to read a book on Java programming. I don’t recommend it, unless your name is Kenny.

Ok, maybe later on I’ll post something interesting, now that I like the look of this business.

Having trouble changing the links on the right side of the page…perhaps I’ll ask Andrew to tell me how to do it.

But… I don’t know if I want to reveal this blog yet.

Give me some time, I’ll figure it out.

What are you supposed to write for your first post?

How about I recommend that you read these blogs :
ensight.org
Gaza’s Blog

Those two got me here.

But seriously, it’s late at night, I should be in bed. It’s a Monday night. I’ll write tomorow…maybe get this thing really started.

Goodnight.
